2021 Eisteddfod meeting attracts hundreds of supporters

13 November 2019

The hall at Ysgol Glan y Môr, Pwllheli was full last night to welcome the 2021 National Eisteddfod to Llŷn and Eifionydd, as over 400 people came to welcome the festival to Boduan in two years’ time

This was a chance to find out more about the project and show support for the aim to bring the Eisteddfod to the area for the first time since 1987.  It was also a chance for those interested in volunteering to find out more about how to join the team.

Eisteddfod Organiser, Elen Elis, said, “It was great to see so many people at the meeting, especially on such a cold and windy evening.  There was a warm welcome and the enthusiasm was clear to see across the hall.

“I always enjoy the first public meeting.  Starting the process in a brand new area, and seeing so many people joining in, some of them are familiar faces who’ve supported the Eisteddfod for years, and others are new faces, keen to work with us and take part for the very first time.

“And that’s what we saw in Pwllheli last night, everyone supporting and keen to make the 2021 Eisteddfod an amazing success.  Thank you to everyone for coming, and we look forward to working with communities and individuals locally over the coming months.

“Nominations for Chair, Vice-chair and the Executive Committee Secretary, and the Chair of the Local Fund Committee are currently open, as are the nominations for the Chair and Secretary of each of the other Eisteddfod committees.  You can either nominate yourself or another suitable individual for any one of these posts.

“Remember to complete the form – we need to know who’s nominating an individual as well as their details.  The nomination process is open until 12:00 this Friday, 15 November, and we’ll be sending the electronic voting form to everyone at the beginning of next week to be completed by Friday 22 November.

“You have to register your interest to be part of the tem to vote, as only those on the database will receive an electronic voting form.  Anyone without access to a computer can ring us on 0845 4090 400 and we’ll guide you through the process on the phone.

“And remember, being a member of a committee does not affect your right to compete, so don’t think that you’re unable to take part because you’re part of the team.”

Go to https://eisteddfod.wales/2021-eisteddfod/join-2021-eisteddfod-team to register your interest to be part of the team and to nominate officials for the individual committees.  And go to https://eisteddfod.wales/2021-eisteddfod/nomination-form-2021-executive-committee-officers to nominate individuals to serve as officials on the Executive Committee.

The names of the officials will be announced at the first meeting to discuss the list of competitions, held in Coleg Meirion Dwyfor, Pwllheli on Tuesday evening 26 November at 19:00.  They will also be published online and in the press.

The Eisteddfod is held in Boduan from 31 July – 7 August 2021.
