Changes to the National Eisteddfod Competitions Programme for Llŷn and Eifionydd

14 May 2023

Following further discussions with the central panels, the Cultural Committee and the Management Board and a meeting with choral representatives, the National Eisteddfod has announced changes to the draft competition programme published a few weeks ago.

The Management Board has approved an alternative programme following complaints, with semi-final rounds omitted for group competitions for this year.

This is a one-off solution for this year only, and organisers will discuss the Rhondda Cynon Taf National Eisteddfod programme with committees, panels and partners over the coming months, to ensure that the 2024 programme is fair for everyone across all disciplines, whether a group or individual competitor.

The Cultural Committee’s decision was not unanimous, and organisers have been asked to state this when publishing the revised programme.

The closing date to register to compete is Wednesday 17 May, and organisers and choral representatives are calling on choirs from all over Wales to compete to ensure that this year’s National Eisteddfod is a celebration of group and individual competitions.

The Llŷn and Eifionydd National Eisteddfod is held in Boduan from 5-12 August. For more information go to www.eisteddfod.cymru.
