Public Transport

Buses

A special shuttle bus sponsored by Pwllheli businesses runs between Pwllheli and the Maes from 08:30 – 23:00. Click here to see Bus 8E timetable.
Price: Adult one-way ticket - £2 | Child one-way ticket - £1. Buy your ticket on the bus.

A special shuttle bus sponsored by businesses in the Nefyn area runs between Boduan | Nefyn | Morfa Nefyn | Edern  Click here to see Bus 8N timetable.
Price: Adult one-way ticket - £2 | Under 16 free. Buy your ticket on the bus.

A special shuttle bus runs from Maes yr Eisteddfod | Aberdaron | Abersoch - 20:00 - 23:00 - Click here to book your ticket. 

Last buses from the Maes

Special buses run from the Maes at 23:00 every night.  You’ll need to book your ticket beforehand. More information on booking tickets available soon.  These buses run to:

Public Buses

Public buses 3, 8 and 12 will run all day to the Eisteddfod. Buy your ticket on the bus; you don't have to book in advance.

Bus 8: Pwllheli | Efailnewydd | Boduan | Nefyn | Tudweiliog. Click here to see Bus 8 timetable.

Bus 3: From Porthmadog to Pwllheli, with the 3B running from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Porthmadog. Catch the shuttle bus from Pwllheli to the Maes and back to Pwllheli or book a seat on the last bus to Porthmadog at 23:00. Click here to see Bus 3 timetable.

Bus 12: From Caernarfon to Pwllheli. Catch the shuttle bus from Pwllheli to the Maes and back to Pwllheli or book a seat on the last bus to Caernarfon at 23:00. Click here to see Bus 12 timetable.

Buses from other areas

  • Bus T2: From Dolgellau | Trawsfynydd to Porthmadog, and then Bus 3 to Pwllheli.
  • Bus 39: From Barmouth to Porthmadog, and then Bus 3 to Pwllheli

Using the Train

The nearest train station is Pwllheli. Use the shuttle bus to get to the Maes. You can catch a train to Bangor and catch Bus 5C to Caernarfon and change to Bus 12 to Pwllheli.

 

Travelling by Car or Taxi

Need to travel by car to the Eisteddfod? Make sure you follow the yellow 'Eisteddfod' signs to get to the Maes.

The signs are there to help you, and we’ve worked on the traffic management plan with the local council and emergency services, to create a plan that’ll help you get to the Maes as easily and safely as possible.

Maes B, the caravan and campsite, and the car parks are all close to the Eisteddfod Maes in Boduan.

Travelling from the south on the A497 (from Porthmadog)

Traffic will be diverted onto the B4354 at the Afon wen roundabout, travelling through Chwilog. Past South Caernarfon Creameries to Y Ffôr. Cross the junction at the temporary lights in the centre of the village and continue along the B4354 until the junction with the A497. Turn left onto the A497 and follow the road until you reach the car park.

Travelling from the east on the A499 (from Caernarfon)

Follow the A499 to Y Ffôr and turn right at the temporary lights in the centre of the village, continuing along the B4354 until the junction with the A497. Turn left onto the A497 and follow the road until you reach the car park.

Travelling from Penrhyn Llŷn

Follow the directions and local signs as you reach them. Some roads will be closed during the festival, so please follow all signs to reach the Maes, and help us to avoid traffic problems.

Parking

Follow the signs to the car parks and please don’t park on the side of the road.

Remember to follow our stewards’ instructions in the car park. They’re here to help you as you arrive and leave the car park.  Parking is free.

*Disabled visitors with a blue badge should follow the signs to the disabled car park*

Drop off points

There’s a dedicated area for buses and taxis to pick up and drop off passengers, on the north side of the A497. We’ll have clear signs to guide you there.
